The unsatisfying answer is “it depends” but that isn’t helpful, is it?

But it doesn’t depend on what you may think. It depends on what you need to beat the market.

I talk about this a lot in my YouTube JumpStart training within the YEP Community, but we need to stop looking at YouTube as “niches” and more as “markets”. 

Whatever content you are trying to create, the question is… “Can you beat the current market?”

So sometimes subpar content can dominate and get tons of views because the amount of videos on the topic is just very few. But if there are a lot of videos on a given topic, you need to find a way to differentiate.

This can be done in a lot of ways, but some of the best ways are just infusing your personality into content.

The more mature a market is, the more creative you will have to be to “beat it”

So the ultimate answer to the Quality vs Quantity question is what is your market used to seeing, and how can you be unique and creative enough to beat it?

There is an old saying that “unique is better than better”. This is very true, as most of the gurus out there will tell you to just copy the content ideas from another channel.

That strategy just doesn’t work sustainably. We want to build sustainable businesses that we can live on and ditch the corporate 9-5.
