Ok, so exactly one year ago, I noticed that the SEO industry (at least for small publishers) was dying.

It got to the point where I stopped pitching it, which was an effective side hustle, and shut down training and memberships where I taught it.

I didn’t like the idea of promoting and selling “a dream” that I wasn’t even doing myself anymore.

Regardless, 2024 was a tough year. That realization that the service and industry I was married to since 2015 was GONE sucked…

But over the year and a few tears, I transitioned to Newsletters and YouTube.

2024 was the transition. 2025 will be the ramp-up.

So here are a couple of predictions I have for my business and what I think will happen.

  1. AI will continue to improve: Bold prediction, I know. But we will become more beholden to how fast AI will make time for us. But with the ease of creating content now, there will need to be more differentiation.

  2. Written content is more of a compliment and not a primary driver of marketing: Small-time blogging is dead as a “traffic source.” Blogging will still work, but only as a push to get people who already know who you are over the edge.

  3. Cheap Faceless YouTube content will flood the platform: Faceless works well, but usually when done right. Do not add to the trash content that hits the platform; it’s shortlived.

  4. General marketing will lose its effectiveness: Video can bring in leads, but you need to get them OFF the platform and into your own marketing channels like email or a community.

  5. Recurring = Greatness: Building up a recurring income is more important than mid-ticket offerings. If you sell a product that nets you less than $1500 per sale, go to recurring. It really helps with a business’s sustainability. That is why every company you know is switching to a recurring model.

I’ll leave it at that for now…
