When it comes to YouTube, there is one thing that we need to do to get the watch hours we need to monetize.

Maximize watch time.

You must do this with ONE thing to max out watch time…

Keep people hooked with story; this video did this very well.

This is Anna Cramling a chess YouTuber with over 1 million subscribers.

She uses a thing called “Dramatic Irony” in her storytelling.

Dramatic Irony is when the audience knows something the character in the story does not know.

Anna and her Mom are "Grandmasters" at chess, yet they play with a random guy who literally preaches to them for nearly 8 minutes, letting the guy "talk down" to them of sorts as they humbly just sat there and let him make an arrogant fool of himself.

When watching this video, I found myself just waiting for the reveal of when the guy FINALLY realized who he was REALLY playing.

The ~10 minute video was definitely worth the wait as when he realized he…. well, I’ll let you check it out.

But how can we sue this in our videos?

Tease the ending of videos without giving all away.

Create intrigue in your video’s hook, and don’t give away the ending. I see a lot of videos that do that, and it destroys retention.
