I'm fed up

Quite frankly, I’m fed up.

I’m done with Beehiiv.

But not sure if it’s Beehiiv’s fault or just the industry as a whole.

Two years ago while traditional SEO was floundering (RIP Affiliate Blogs) I was in a flux. I needed to come up with another business model and quick.

I found myself in a bit of a hole because I was totally over-leveraged in how much money I had invested in SEO endeavors. So the industry as a whole began to shift.

I shifted to newsletters and it was great. (yes, I did say “was”)

Before you start screaming about newsletters being dead , because it has not died.

In fact, it’s stronger now more than ever, but the monetization opportunities have changed for it. Let me explain.

When I first began monetizing with ads in newsletters, Beehiiv was at the forefront of making the process insanely easy to do. At one point I was earning between $500 to $1,000 per month JUST WITH ADS.

That didn’t include affiliate offers, my YouTube community, and better sponsors.

But over the last 18 months or so, Beehiiv’s best feature in making stupid easy to get ads on your email, has become it’s most annoying feature because the pay is so low, and at the same time, the pricing of Beehiiv has skyrocketed.

Now-a-days, I earn probably $30 to $50 per month with Beehiiv ads.

That is TERRIBLE and not worth the time.

SO NOW WHAT?

Well, there are three things I’m doing and something you should probably do as well.

1. If you haven’t began building your list.. START NOW. But don’t use Beehiiv. It’s just too freaking pricey. I’m looking at flodesk for $35/mo, unlimited everything. boom

2. Be very targeted in who joins your list. Meaning make it all about one thing. It makes it so much easier for REAL brand deals. Not the trash you get from Beehiiv.

3. Create a core product that has a higher ticket costs for those that are REALLY interested in your stuff.

4. Create YouTube videos or Twitter posts to fill your list or invest in paid ads.

That is an effective business model that WORKS AMAZINGLY WELL.
