I didn't know

In the United States, there was a holiday this past Monday, and when there is a holiday early in the week, our trash pick-up is delayed by a day.

So, I didn’t put out my trash.

I even walked outside and saw that no one else on my block put out their trash either.

I felt justified.

But of course, I woke up this morning to the sound of my trash man zooming on by with nothing on my curb.

But misery loves company because he also zoomed by everyone else’s homes.

Again, I felt justified.

But then something weird happened…

About 15 minutes later, he returned and picked up everyone else’s trash.

He noticed that no one put out their trash and used the fact that his truck was insanely loud as a “warning shot” that he was going to come back later.

And to make matters worse, when I walked outside to drop my kid off to school, everyone had their trash cans out…

I had NO CLUE that his “pre-drive” was just his way of letting everyone know that I will be back and put your trash cans out now.

So here I am, stuck with a full trashcan for a week.

The thing is, some of the biggest issues and problems we have in life are simply because we don’t know.
