Devyn’s Origins

Devyn spent nearly a decade teaching English online to students in China through VIPKid-like platforms.

When regulations changed, she switched to Outschool, offering a variety of online classes for kids across different subjects. Initially, she taught English and creative writing on Outschool 📝.

But then…

As a gamer, she started incorporating video game elements into her lessons, using games like Zelda and Pokémon to teach descriptive writing and punctuation.

The kids loved it 😍.

This led her to start offering social clubs where kids could game together in a safe, supervised environment. Surprisingly, parents loved this idea too, appreciating that their kids could have fun, be accepted, and build relationships with other kids.

Current Success…

Devyn now caters to 300 recurring students weekly, charging $18 per student per class.

This adds up to $5,400 per week, or about $22,000 per month 💰. Outschool takes a 30% cut of that revenue.

Devyn is also building up her social media presence on TikTok and YouTube, a smart move to avoid over-reliance on Outschool.

Looking Ahead…

Devyn is gradually shifting from live teaching to managing her team of instructors while maintaining her brand.

If you're a teacher or would like to teach, consider Outschool 👀. (just remember that take 30%)

No formal teaching credentials are required, though you must be a resident of the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, or the UK.
