There are 4 types of viewers on YouTube, and when you understand this, making videos suddenly makes a lot of sense.

The crucial piece here is that not all “viewers” of your videos are created equal.

The algorithm works, NOT video by video.. but viewer by viewer. That is how things go viral.

That is the complete opposite of what most YouTube gurus will tell you online.

I got a lot of this from @Wono_Strategy to be sure to follow him, but I have a little twist on this…

Blue Viewers
Yellow Viewers
Orange Viewers
Red Viewers

Yes, it all comes down to fishing, haha.

But here is the breakdown…

Blue Viewers

These are the viewers who have never seen you or your content ever.

These people are only looking to satisfy their thirst for knowledge or entertainment. They couldn’t care less about you (seriously); they are there for pure transactional means.

Yellow Viewers

These viewers have seen you at least once, so they know you exist.

These viewers are fickle. They know you exist, but they don’t know you well enough to be considered “fans” of your videos.

Orange Viewers

These viewers will make up the majority of your viewers. They know you and like you. But may not particularly watch EVERY upload you make

Red Viewers

This is the top 20% of your viewers. They are die-hards and absolutely love you. They will watch everything you upload, buy what you recommend, and one super important thing.

They will help set your “viewer floor”. Meaning they will help you maintain consistent views.

What does this mean?

It is your goal to “farm” red viewers.

Your lot in life, if you want YouTube success is to play a “video game” and farm experience/red viewers.
